Most garden machinery is shipped partly assembled to protect it in transit and to keep delivery free. This policy explains what arrives ready to use, what needs a few minutes of work, what Vorigon does and does not do for you, and how assembly affects your return and warranty rights.

What Arrives Assembled

Category Assembly Required Typical Time
Walk-Behind Lawn Mowers Minimal. Deck, engine and blade are factory-fitted. You unfold and bolt the handlebar, attach the grass collector and add oil and fuel on petrol models. 10–20 minutes
Ride-On Lawn Mowers Partial. Deck, engine and transmission are pre-assembled. You fit the seat, steering wheel, battery terminals, grass box or deflector, then check tyre pressures and fluid levels. 45–90 minutes
Robotic Lawn Mowers The mower itself is ready. The garden installation — siting the base station and laying the boundary and guide wire — is the main task. 2–5 hours depending on lawn size
Pressure Washers Minimal. Fit the handle, hose reel, lance and nozzles and connect the water supply. 10–15 minutes
Multi-Tool Garden Machines Minimal. Fit the shaft sections, chosen attachment, guard and harness. 10–15 minutes
Mini Chainsaws Ready to use. Check and adjust chain tension and top up bar oil before first use. 5 minutes
Hedge Trimmers Ready to use. Remove the blade cover, fit the handle on long-reach models and charge the battery. 5 minutes
Grass Trimmers & Garden Cutters Minimal. Fit the guard, auxiliary handle and cutting head or line spool. 5–10 minutes
Tool Storage Cabinets Varies by model. Many arrive fully welded and ready to use; modular systems need panels, drawers, castors and worktops fitted. 0–2 hours

The exact assembly requirement for each model is stated in the product description and in the manual supplied in the box. If anything is unclear before you order, ask us on +44 20 3996 1739 or through live chat.

What’s In the Box

Every machine is supplied with the parts needed to complete assembly: fixings, brackets, guards, an assembly tool where one is required, and a printed manual. Batteries and chargers are included only where the product page says so — bare-tool versions are always labelled as such. If any part is missing, email info@vorigon.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and a photograph of the contents, and we will send the missing part free of charge by next-day carrier.

Vorigon Does Not Provide an Installation Service

We are an online retailer, not an installation contractor. Vorigon does not offer on-site assembly, installation, commissioning, testing, wiring or groundwork. Freight deliveries are kerbside only, as set out in our Freight Shipping Policy; the driver will not unpack or assemble the machine.

What we do provide, free of charge:

  • Assembly guidance by phone, email or 24/7 live chat
  • Digital copies of manuals and assembly diagrams if your printed copy is lost
  • Free replacement of missing or damaged fixings and components
  • Advice on tools, torque settings, oil grades and fuel specification

Safety Before First Use

Garden machinery causes serious injuries every year. Please:

  • Read the whole manual before you begin, not after something goes wrong
  • Keep the machine disconnected while assembling — remove the battery, the safety key or the spark plug lead
  • Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling blades, chains and cutting heads
  • Never remove, bypass or defeat a guard, shield, deflector or safety cut-out
  • Check every fastener is tight and every guard is fitted before you start the machine
  • On petrol machines, add the correct oil before the first start and fuel outdoors with the engine cold
  • On pressure washers, connect and run the water supply before starting the motor, and never run the pump dry
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area during assembly and use

If you are not confident, use a qualified garden machinery dealer or a competent tradesperson. Robotic mower boundary wire installation in particular is worth having done professionally if your lawn has complex borders, islands or narrow passages.

Robotic Mower Installation

A robotic mower needs a one-off garden set-up: a level, sheltered site for the base station within reach of a 230V outdoor socket, the perimeter wire pegged at the correct distance from edges and obstacles, guide wire routed back to the station, and the cutting height and schedule configured. Before you begin, mow the lawn conventionally, clear stones and fallen fruit, and mark hidden irrigation lines and cables. Our support team will talk you through the layout if you send a photograph or sketch of your lawn.

Assembly and Your Right to Return

You are entitled to unpack and inspect goods as you would in a shop. That includes unpacking the box, handling the machine, checking the parts and confirming it powers on.

Full assembly goes beyond inspection. If you assemble a machine and then decide to return it under the 14-day cooling-off period or our 30-day window, we can deduct for any reduction in value, capped at 20% of the item price. There is no restocking fee, and no deduction is ever applied to a damaged, defective or incorrectly supplied item. See our Refund & Return Policy for the full detail.

If you think a machine may not be right for you, please contact us before assembling it. A two-minute conversation often saves an unnecessary deduction.

Assembly and Your Warranty

Assembling a product yourself, following the supplied instructions, does not affect your warranty. Damage caused by incorrect assembly does — for example, running a mower with the blade bolt under-torqued, fitting a chain the wrong way round, or operating a machine with a guard missing. Those faults are excluded under our Warranty & Replacement policy. If you are unsure whether you have assembled something correctly, send us a photograph and we will check it before you start the machine.

Packaging Disposal

Please keep the box, pallet and internal packaging for at least 30 days in case you wish to return the item. After that, cardboard and pallets can be recycled at most UK household recycling centres. Polystyrene and plastic strapping should be disposed of according to your local authority’s guidance.
